The deadline for sign up was October 31.

Spelling Bee is a great way for students to expand their word knowledge and learn how to stand up in front of peers and compete in a friendly way. It is for kids from grade 1 through 5.

The suggested donation is $10, you can pay it online at the time of enrollment. The fee covers enrollment, a participation certificate, and entry into the Final School Spelling Bee provided that the student qualifies by first passing the Written Round Test. After the enrollment the students will receive a word list for preparation. The school winner will represent the school for the regional competition in Seattle.

We need volunteers to help us during the following dates. Please consider signing up!

  • Jan. 16th Written Round – Prelims
  • Jan.23rd Mock  Spelling Bee!
  • Feb.2nd (TBD) Final School Spelling Bee!

  • You should be able to access the required study materials online, after you register. Please let us know at, if you were unable to download the lists and rules.
  • We have scholarship options. If you need scholarship for this program please email us with your details at and we will help you with the registration.

  • Please download the word and vocabulary list and start preparing.
  • The Word and Vocabulary List (450 words) will be used for the school spelling bee.
  • The prelims will be a written round and we expect the kids to know the meaning of all the words. It will be a multiple choice test along with 10 words given to spell.
  • There is also a Spell It list that has more than a 1000 words. It is recommended to review this list as some words from this guide will be used in the final school bee if we exhaust the list of 450 words.
  • The Spell It 2019 list will also be useful to the School winner, who will be participating in the regional competition.
  •  The written round pattern will also be emailed to your email used to register on this site or download it.
  • Please use to hear the pronunciation of each and every word. It also has details about the origin of the word, examples, alternate pronunciation and meaning. This website is recommend by Scripps for pronunciation. The Pronouncer would use this site as the standard for both, final school spelling bee and the regionals.
  • Please find the 2019 Rules for Local Spelling Bees here Spelling Bee Rules.
